Feed in Tariffs reduced, new conditions imposed

Feed in tariffs have been reduced by up to 50% for all new solar PV installations with an eligibility date on or after 12 December 2011, and multi-installation projects will be subject to a 20% reduction in tariffs compared to individual schemes. From April 2012, energy efficiency measures will have to be taken before a property becomes eligible for FiT payments.

Those already receiving FiTs will not see a reduction in their payments.

Climate Change and Energy Minister Greg Barker said that the changes, introduced on 31st October 2011 following a leak the previous week, are "needed to put the solar industry on a steadier, clearer and sustainable growth path, avoid boom and bust and protect the wider Feed-in Tariff scheme".
